Physiologically, piglet's enzymatic digestive system is immature for digestion of proteins and complex carbohydrates until 6 weeks of age. In farm, artificial feeding is administered from the fifth day in order to avoid the adverse effects of excessive weight loss of the sow on the next litter.
Piglets fed artificially are unable to digest soy derivatives completely so addition of an enzymatic premix is required. The result is increased utilization of feed and prevention of digestive disorders caused by fermentation of undigested proteins in the gut.
